This is my Mom. In the beginning of last month, I called the paramedics because she wasn’t able to stand up. She had been having flu like symptoms for a while, but we thought nothing of it. When we arrived at the ER, the doctor examined her and told us that she had somehow acquired a flesh-eating bacteria that was gangrenous, and he said that it was very possible she wasn’t going to live through the night. My Mom endured three emergency surgeries that night, and has pulled through with amazing strength. It’s been almost a month now, and she’s still in the hospital—undergoing reconstructive surgery as I write this.
She doesn’t know how beautiful she is, she doesn’t understand how much she adds to this world. Her goofy sense of humour, her wit, her love, and her hugs, they all saved my life so many times, and brightened the lives of others.
I’ve never written anything like this before, but would anyone mind reblogging this to show your support, and to tell her and show her how much she’s loved and appreciated? I know it would mean the world to her.
I hope she gets better, I know if my mom was going through this I would do the same thing.

Story of a Five Year-Old Avenger, Meeting the Avengers
“Hi, Loki!” my wife said (100% sure she didn’t know Tim Hiddleston’s name). “Can my son get a picture with you?” she asked. “Can I put him on my shoulders?” Loki asks. “Um … okay?” is Jill’s response and hands Tom Hiddleston our son. He hoists him up on to his shoulders (I should mention that this guy is like 8 feet tall), and my wife takes out her Blackberry, only to find that it’s on its last battery leg. Nonetheless she manages to get a couple of shots. Hiddleston puts Edison down, shakes his hand and says goodbye…
… Evans crouches down next to Edison, who extends his hand and shakes the hand of The First Avenger. “Can I see your shield?” Evans asks and Edison hands his battered toy shield over. “Wow, you’re getting a lot of use out of this. You fighting a lot of bad guys with this?” he asks. Chris Evans and Edison proceed to have a conversation about the finer points of shields and fighting the enemy.

According to a new study exploring the interrelation of language and emotion, if a word consists of letters typed with predominantly the right hand, it is felt to be more positive in meaning; a word typed predominantly with the left hand is associated more with negative emotion.
The study included speakers of English, Spanish, and Dutch, both left- and right-handed, but all users of QWERTY keyboard layouts. Even made-up words like boshe, cheethe, plake, and throog were given value judgments that aligned with how they’d be typed.

George Lucas Strikes Back of the Day: Star Wars creator George Lucas has been trying for years to convert a large parcel of land in Marin County, California into a 300,000 square foot movie studio, with amenities including a day care center, restaurants, a gym and a parking garage, only to be shot down by his wealthy neighbors.
Because the local homeowners’ association has refused to let Lucas move forward with the studio, he’s decided to put the land to good use by transforming it into low-income housing, simultaneously doing a good deed and trolling his fellow landowners.
“If everyone feels that housing is less impactful on the land, then we are hoping that people who need it the most will benefit,” Lucas snarked.
He’s even donating the various studies and surveys he paid for while working on the movie studio project, to help the new housing development get underway more quickly.

An unholy amount of time, money and energy has been poured into my musical education on both the creative and technical sides of playing and recording it and I have channeled that into this cover of Dynamite by Taio Cruz.
